Georg A. Nowacki, age 89, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away at his home on Monday, May 19, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was a loving husband to Elaine Nowacki (deceased), father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to all. He was born on February 12,1936, in Wilna, Poland to his late parents, Bernard and Emilie Nowacki.
He is survived by his five children: one son, Robert Nowacki and wife, Kathy, of Nicholasville, KY; and four daughters: Brenda Ann Caviness and husband, Chris, of Whitsett, NC; Sandra Lee Barnes of Ewa Beach, HI; Debra Marie Reid and husband, David, of Hudson, NC; and Tina-Maria Nowacki and William Tew of Fayetteville, NC. He had three brothers, Eddie, Harry, and Benny, and a sister, Ingrid Connell, all deceased. Also, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Georg left Germany during WWII, joined the United States Army in June 1957, and became a naturalized citizen on June 1, 1967. He served two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea.
He retired in January 1987 after serving almost 30 years, retiring out of Ft. Belvoir, VA as a E9, Sergeant Major. His other occupations included truck driving and overseas contracting.
When he finally settled down, he made road trips in his RV with his wife, Elaine, took cruises, and spent time with his family. He also enjoyed German food, soups, and his "crunchies."
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home at 500 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville, NC, beginning at 11:00 a.m. for the viewing and 12:00 p.m. for the service. Entombment will follow at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 4509 Raeford Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28304.
