Frederick "Fred" K. Nix

Frederick “Fred” Kenneth Nix, 88, of Linden passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at North Carolina State Veterans Home.

Fred was born on October 2, 1932, in Horry County South Carolina to the late Seymour Nix and Maude Horton. He was a retired Staff Sergeant of the United States Air Force after serving 20 years. After the Air Force he opened Nix Upholstery in Haughton, LA, for over 25 years till he retired to travel with his wife, which was the love of his life Cora Lindsey Nix. Fred was a Mason and involved in Shriners during his time spent in Haughton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee Lindsey Nix; brothers, Seymour “Nick” Nix, Jerome Nix and grandson Charlie Nix.

He is survived by his children Kathleen Doyle of Linden, North Carolina, Deborah Stewart, husband Norman of Crossville, Tennessee and David Nix, wife Sharon of Little Elm, Texas; brothers Clyde Nix, Malcolm Nix, Gene Nix and sisters Delorese Dewayne and Betty Conaway; grandchildren Ray Mitcham, Christopher Nix, April Llewellyn(Kyle), Tiffany Jones(Ben), Jennifer Stewart and Brandon Stewart; great-grandchildren Cora Steger, Taylor Llewellyn, Austin Llewellyn, Kylie Stewart, Tesla Jones and Cody Stewart .

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A visitation will be held before the service from 10:00am to 10:45am.
