Eunice “Gwen” Gwendolyn Carter Hudson, 93, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, at her daughter’s home. She was the daughter of Jasper and Annie Carter, born August 16, 1929, In Caswell County, NC. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles “Buddy” Hudson; son, Charles, Jr.; grandson, Oliver Madison; brothers, Wallace, Edward, Raymond Carter and sisters, Dorothy, Lelia, and Pauline. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Roger Hudson of VA, David Hudson (Cecilia) of NC, and Ellen Fritts (Eric) of NC; sisters, Dean Smith of VA, and Marie Barker of VA; brother, Arnold Carter of NC. Gwen also leaves behind her 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Gwen married the love of her life, Charles “Buddy” Hudson, on August 4, 1951, they were married for 48 years until his passing in 1999. Gwen was a devoted military spouse and mother, raising four children around the world. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers. She retired from the Ft Bragg Thrift Shop, where she worked for 40 years, she met many friends during that time. Gwen was a Christian, who loved the Lord. She was a long-time member of Catalpa Bible Way Church. Gwen and Buddy served their church by heading up the recycling project for funds for the church. During her career, she was awarded many times for appreciation. She loved her family and friends. Gwen leaves behind a legacy of caring, devotion, love, and a giving heart. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 5 to 7PM. A Funeral service will be held at 9 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023, with Mr. Anthony Varon officiating. Burial to follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice Care team for their love and support and the staff at Walk by Faith Adult Day Care Center where she loved to go.
