Ellen Jacobs Smith

Ellen Jacobs Smith passed away on January 21, 2026, in her home, with her loving niece, Liz Osborne.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Dalton Jacobs; her brothers, Jerry, Bobby, and Haywood; her sister, Sandy; and her devoted husband, Bob Smith.

She is survived by her children, Bryan (Rebecca) Spencer, Derik (Melissa) Smith, and Chad (Missy) Smith; her grandchildren, Jayne (Jonathan) Tursich, Caleb Spencer, Cole (Kayla) Smith, Caden Smith, Cooper Smith, Clara Smith, April Stone, Mia Smith, and Vince Smith; her great-grandchildren, Nathan Tursich, Callen Smith, and Charlee Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Ellen enjoyed attending go-kart races with her son and faithfully supporting her grandson at his basketball games. Above all, spending time with her family brought her great happiness.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Fayetteville Community Church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. After the service, Ellen will be laid to rest at Cape Fear Baptist Church.
