Elizabeth Reiner Obituary

Elizabeth Mitchell Smith Reiner of Lillington, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 8, at the North Carolina Veteran's Home in Fayetteville at the age of 85. She was a loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed.

Born August 5, 1935, to James Alexander Cochran and Annie Cochran of Hamilton, Scotland. Elizabeth came to this country in 1957 and worked in a Children’s hospital in New Jersey. It was here that she met her future husband, Joseph John Reiner, who was returning from an overseas tour with the U.S. Military. They were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this past June.

Elizabeth was a homemaker and is survived by her husband, Joseph. She was a loving mother to four children: Christopher of Erwin, NC; Allen of the home; and Lisa of Southern Pines, NC; a fourth son, Joseph preceded her in death. She chose to support her husband’s career in life, and brought Joy and happiness to her family during their travels and life experiences. As a mother, she taught her children their Gaelic heritage and regaled them with stories of family and history. She is also survived by a brother, Mr. Ian Cochran, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Pollock, both of Hamilton Scotland. She is preceded in death by two other brothers and six sisters as well as her parents. In addition, she has three grandsons: Ian of Arizona; Daniel of Erwin, NC; and Austin of Florida. There are also many nieces and nephews both in Scotland and here in the U.S.
