Edward Earl Maynor

Edward Earl Maynor, 80, of Hope Mills, NC went to meet his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2024. He collapsed at his home and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later passed away.

Born on September 28, 1944, Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Edward Maynor and Lystra Mae Maynor of Sampson, NC. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by his brother, Glenn Marshall Maynor of Fayetteville, NC.

Edward is survived by his wife, Debra Maynor; three daughters, Yaveda Gail McLaurin of Hope Mills, Angela Karen Cooper and husband, Chris Cooper of Fayetteville, and Wanda Nicole Travis of Hope Mills; his two stepsons, Jeremy Snader and his wife, Amanda Snader of Hoke County, and Christopher Snader of Fayetteville. In addition, he is survived by his “little brother,” Terry Paul Maynor and wife, Loretta Maynor of Fayetteville. Edward also leaves behind his 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. In addition, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Edward was self employed for 58 years as a barber at “Highland Barber Shop.” He graduated from E.C.I. High School of Sampson, NC, attended Worth Business College, and graduated from Durham Institute of Barbering in 1966. He served as the Chairman on the Board for the Cumberland County Association of Indian People, Commissioner for the Town of Hope Mills, ABC Board of Commissions, as well as the North Carolina State Commission of Indian Affairs.

Edward loved his Indian heritage and serving his people, but most of all he loved his family, friends, and telling a great story. He was always gentle, kind, and offered a friendly smile to others. He enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to new places. No matter where he traveled to, someone knew him. He never met a stranger, and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Fayetteville Community Church from 11 to 12:45 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm with Reverend Wesley Pritchard officiating. Burial to follow the service at Shiloh Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Godwin, NC.
