Edgar Mack McLaurin passed away peacefully at his home in Eastover on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Edgar was 74 years old, born to Mack and Ruth McLaurin on December 10, 1950.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Moore McLaurin and son, Jonathan Edgar McLaurin. His also leaves behind his faithful dachshunds, Willie and Sadie.
Edgar graduated from Central High School in 1969. He and his parents owned and operated McLaurin's Red Apple Supermarket for over 20 years. After closing the family business, Edgar worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2013.
Edgar was a member and Elder of Southview Presbyterian Church. He also served as a Trustee of the church. Edgar was a member of Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge No. 679.
Edgar loved to fish and was a member of the Fayetteville Bassmasters. He was named Sportsman of the Year by his fellow "fishing buddies" in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2007, 2015 and again in 2023.
Graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Eastover. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30-2:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
