Dr. Theophilus John Pryor, OD

Theophilus “Ted” Pryor went home to our Lord on August 26 th after a long struggle with cancer. He was the son of Walter and Elizabeth Pryor of Elizabeth, NJ. Born in California, he was raised in Elizabeth, NJ where he attended Blessed Sacrament grammar and Saint Mary’s High School. After high school he returned to California where he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley where he earned his Doctor of Optometry. He had his own business in the field of optometry in Sacramento, CA for many years. He later moved to Fayetteville, NC where he worked at the hospital at Fort Bragg 18 years and then transferred to the VA Coastal Health Care system in Fayetteville.
Ted had 22 years of dedicated service first to the soldiers at Fort Bragg and later to the veterans at the VA Eye Clinic. He cared deeply for his patients and they and his co-workers were like family to him. He is survived by his brother Patrick and his wife Toni of Simpsonville, SC, his sister Deborah and her husband Louis of Hillside, NJ and their son Daniel and his wife Alexandra and their children Lucas and Landon of Stockton, NJ, his brother Gregory of St. Cloud, FL, and his brother Richard and his wife Denise of Belford, NJ.
