Dorothy (Dat) Ann (Taylor) Gilbert

Dorothy (Dat) Gilbert, 93, of Fayetteville passed away on March 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on March 22, 1930, in Laurens, SC to the late Fred and Eula Taylor.

Dat is preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Gilbert; parents, Fred and Eula Mae Taylor; and her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Claire Taylor. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Gaye Foster (Doug); son, Jay Gilbert (Kay); grandchildren, Christopher Foster, Andrew (Ashely) Foster, Harrison (Samantha) Gilbert, Taylor (Daniel) Moates, Kaytlyn (Jeff) Carlson; and great grandchildren, Caroline Foster, Ainsley Foster, Ella Gilbert, and James Gilbert.

In 1949, Dat married Jimmy and moved to the Fayetteville area where they raised their family. She was part of many clubs in her lifetime including the Junior League, Lafayette Garden Club, and the Cotillion Club. Dat was part of the Presbyterian Women for 74 years where she received the service award in 2011.

The family will greet friends at First Presbyterian Church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday, March 31, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM with Reverend Mike Garret officiating. Burial to follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Dat’s memory.
