Dorothy Smith Hair, 76, passed away on November 27, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Darlene Strickland, Angie Cox, and Shelby Hair; her parents, Janie C. and Woodrow Ancil Smith; her nephew, Elbert Dale Strickland; her daughter-in-law, Stacey Hair; and her brother-in-law, “Uncle” Jack Edwards.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Vernon Lucas, Earl Smith (Tina), Woodrow Smith (Melissa), Victor Hair, Catherine Hair; and her stepson, Paul Vernon. She also leaves behind her granddaughters, Madison, Miranda, Kaitlin, and Katrina; her grandsons, Anthony and Kenneth; and her great-granddaughters, Haven and River. She is further survived by her sisters, Elsie Edwards, Frances Boahn (George), and Judy Ubanks; her nieces, Brenda and Paula; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Born on August 30, 1949, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Dorothy grew up working hard, first in the fields and later in a chicken hatchery. Despite her tough upbringing, she carried a gentle spirit. She loved her quiet moments with a cup of coffee, and she never missed an episode of “The First 48.” Above all, she adored her family and her dog, Jack, with a depth of love that shaped everything she did. Dorothy would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, and she touched countless lives with her kindness.

Her family will forever love and cherish the woman she was and the memories she leaves behind.

Dorothy's visitation will be held from 10:45am-11:45am on December 7, 2025 at Rogers & Breece Funeral home. Her funeral service will start at 12pm.
