Debra (Debbie) Moore-Cook, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated servant to her community, passed away on November 9, 2024.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Cook; her cherished daughter, Anna and husband, Ian Sweeney and “adopted daughter”, Tracey Bowers, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Rebecca Griffin, Jameson, Emmalyn, and Lincoln Sweeney, Tyree, Avery, and Jayden Cook and her brother, Larry Moore and his wife, Dinah.
Throughout her 37-year career as an elementary school teacher, Debbie touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the success and wellbeing of her students. Her life was guided by her strong Christian faith, and she believed deeply in the power of love, community, and service. Debbie will be remembered as a light to those around her, a woman who embodied selflessness and strength, and a teacher who inspired generations.
A memorial service celebrating Debbie’s life will be held on Monday, December 9, at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Debbie are invited to come together in remembrance of a truly remarkable woman.
