Dawn Faircloth Carr, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
Dawn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Dorothy Faircloth. She is survived by her children, Robert Carr (Toni), James Carr (Shannon), and Christina Carr, who will forever cherish her memory; her lifelong partner, David Sessoms; her sisters, Gayle Faircloth Huggins and Constance Faircloth Benton (Bennie); and her cousins, Rodney Edge (Cindy) and Johnny Edge (Patricia). Dawn’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Thatcher Carr, Macy Carr, Lily Carr, and Cole Kanner-Carr, who brought her immense joy.
As a single mother of three, Dawn was a pillar of strength and resilience. She built a fulfilling career as a legal secretary, earning admiration for her intelligence, wit, and grace. She adored her grandchildren, shared her passion for shag dancing, and found solace at White Lake, NC, her favorite retreat with her sisters.
Dawn was more than a mother—she was her children’s best friend, a constant presence who supported them unconditionally. She embraced their unique personalities and talents with unwavering love while teaching the values of honesty, commitment, and trust. Dawn was a confidante, guarding their secrets with deep integrity, fostering a bond of respect and understanding that they will carry forever.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, as a shining example of love, strength, and grace.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Highland Presbyterian Church from 11 to 11:45 am. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm with Reverend Chip Stapleton officiating.
