David "Dixon" Draughon Obituary

David “Dixon” Draughon of Fayetteville left this earth for his Heavenly home on March 1, 2021.

Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, George Alderman Draughon and Sarah Delia Draughon; his sisters Jean Lee, Georgia Belle Draughon, and Edna Davis; brother Charles Draughon; and grandson Mark Draughon.

He is survived by his three children, Stanley Draughon of Snow Hill, NC; Kelvin Draughon and wife Ginger Burks Draughon of Garner, NC; and Holly Jackson and husband Tony Jackson of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is, also, survived by his grandchildren Geoffrey Draughon, Austin Draughon, and their mother Patricia Hope Smith; Rachael Songalewski (Paul) and Valerie Weldon (Adam), and their mother Sherry Couey; Alex Jackson, Dylan Jackson, Dorsey Draughon, and Margaret Grace Draughon; great-grandchildren Aidan Walker, Lana and Claire Songalewski, and Lennox Draughon; brother, Albert Draughon and sister Diane Draughon Johnson.

 A service to celebrate Dixon’s life will be held at Rogers and Breece Chapel in Fayetteville on Saturday, March 6 at 3:00 p.m.  Family visitation will be prior to the service from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Burial will follow in Cumberland Cemetery on Bingham Drive, Fayetteville.

The family wishes to thank Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Heritage Place, and especially the staff of the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC, for their competent, compassionate care.
