Obituary

Daniel Thaddeus Perry, III, 78, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on September 2nd, 2023.

Dan was born in Gladewater, Texas, on September 7th, 1944, to parents Daniel Thaddeus Perry, Jr., and Ethel Johnson Highsmith Perry. After he graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1962, Dan went on to study Political Science at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he joined the Kappa Alpha fraternity. As Dan would say, he graduated “thank-the-lordy” with his Bachelor’s Degree in 1966.

In pursuit of his life-long dream to become an attorney, Dan then attended the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1969. This achievement launched his 50-year career as an attorney in North Carolina. As a fierce advocate for justice, Dan served every client with loyalty, empathy and compassion.

Dan was a vivacious man, known among family and friends for his humor and loving heart. From March to October you could find him on the golf course and from November to February you could find him hunting quail in the open fields of South Carolina. Above all else, Dan’s pride and joy was his family; wife, Sharon, and children, Melodie, Thomas, Kaitlin and Daniel.

Dan is survived by his wife, Sharon Perry; step-son, Thomas (Jennifer) Jackson; daughter, Kaitlin (Michael) Page; son, Daniel (Alyssa) Perry, IV; grandchildren, Thomas Jackson, Jr., Hadley Jackson, and Michael Page, III.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Thaddeus Perry, Jr. and Ethel Highsmith Perry Laffitte, as well as his step-daughter, Melodie Anne Jackson Blasko.

A visitation with family will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, on Thursday, September 7th from 9:45-10:45. A funeral service will immediately follow in the First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
