Roy Warden was a remarkable man, full of life, love, and laughter. Born on July 8, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, Roy lived a life marked by strength, humor, and an unwavering love for family. He passed away peacefully in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on October 11, 2025.
Roy loved animals, nature, music, people, family, and the beach. Known for his quick wit and love of telling jokes, he could make anyone smile. His deep devotion to family inspired him to start the annual Hendrix Family Beach Trip—now celebrating 27 years and counting. Roy was always there for those he loved, ready to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.
A dedicated student and lifelong learner, Roy became the first in his family to attend and graduate college—an accomplishment he held dear. He was especially proud to be a graduate of the University of Texas, where he was a member of the track team. He served his country in the U.S. Army, later serving his community as a Councilman in Mount Holly, North Carolina, and built a long, respected career as a jeweler. Roy was a loving brother, son, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who honored God, country, and family in all that he did.
Roy leaves behind his beloved wife, Marie Warden; his son, Christopher Warden (Tammy); his daughter, Mary Hendrix; grandsons Zac Warden and Chase Warden; nephew Jared Warden; cousin Liz Callaway; nephew Keith Knight; and cousin Juanita Swint.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Leroy Warden Sr.; his mother, Blondell Bracewell Warden; his uncle, Omar; his brother, David Warden; and his nephew, Lee Warden.
Services will be held at a later date.
