Chong Sun Holmes

Chong Sun Holmes, 81, went home to be with our Heavenly Father Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Lee Holmes; her parents, Pung Won No and Pok Sun Yi; and her sisters and brother.

Chong leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Sharon F. Holmes; her sons, William L. Holmes and James L. Holmes; her grandchildren, Lisa L. Holmes, Blake L. Holmes, and Charice Vinyard; her great-grandchildren, Kayden Vinyard and Ethan Vinyard; and her sister, In'soon No.

Chong was born in Suwon, South Korea on September 30th, 1943. Later in life she met and married Ernest Lee Holmes and started her life in the US in Fayetteville, NC. After her husband’s retirement from the USAF, they opened and ran an oriental grocery store in Spring Lake for almost 3 decades.

Chong devoted her later years to caring for her friends and family and tending to her beloved garden, which brought her immense joy.
