Charlotte Moore McLaurin passed away peacefully at UNC hospital in Chapel Hill on Friday, July 18, 2025. Charlotte was 73 years old, born to Franklin and Rebecca Moore on January 22, 1952.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Edgar Mack McLaurin. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Jonathan Edgar McLaurin, her brother Bruce Franklin Moore and wife Judy and her niece Kelly Moore. She also leaves behind her faithful dachshunds Willie and Sadie.
Charlotte graduated from Massey Hill High School in 1970. She attended Methodist College where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She also obtained her Administrative and Master’s degrees in Education from Campbell University. She was a dedicated educator with the Cumberland County School system for over 30 years before she retired in 2010.
Charlotte learned to play the piano at an early age and developed a love for music.
Charlotte was a member of Southview Presbyterian Church where she provided her beautiful music for the worship service on Sunday. She was also Clerk of the Session.
Charlotte also participated in the music program at First Presbyterian Church where she loved to sing in the choir.
Charlotte was a member of Fayetteville Chapter #334 of the Order of the Eastern Star where she provided music for meetings in her chapter. She also provided music for meetings across the state when she was appointed Grand Organist for the Hyatt-Tyson grand family in 2016.
Charlotte loved football. A passion which she obtained while attending Massey Hill High School football games to watch her brother play. In the fall, most Saturdays she could be found attending the home football games of the UNC football team which she began attending when her son was a member of the Marching Tarheels.
Charlotte will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26th at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 5pm-7pm. The graveside service will be Sunday, July 27th at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Eastover at 3:30pm.
