Celia Maie Martin Grabey, 86, of Fayetteville, NC passed away at her home on September 16, 2021.
Although Celia was born and raised in Raleigh, she spent most of her adult life living in Fayetteville. She was dedicated to raising her family and devoted her life to being a domestic goddess. After the children became adults and Stan retired from the military, she trucked across the country with him. She just missed her goal of visiting all fifty states. Celia had a passion for gardening and her many trinkets and treasures that she collected throughout her life. Her vibrant personality was shown through this as soon as you pulled up to her home. Her home was an open door as she was a friend to many and never new a stranger. Everyone that knew her would say the same. She would add a plate at the dinner table and a bed for them to rest, for many souls throughout her life. As she grew older, she had a standing date on Saturday nights with the Gaither Brothers.
Celia was preceded in death by her parents, James "Abe" Dowd and Dorothy (Nipper) Martin and siblings; James "Peter" Martin Jr., Charles Martin, Hubert "Jack" Martin and Eunice "Lynn" Martin, spouse, Stanley Grabey, daughter, Regina Rauscher and grandson, Jared Rauscher.
Celia is survived by Jean Otto (Larry) of Raleigh, NC, Theresa Hinton of Raleigh, NC; Dorothy Fiesel (Ed) of Ottawa, Il, Stephanie Grabey of Hope Mills, and Veronica Cox (Alan) of Apex, NC. 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on September 22, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
Celia will be laid to rest with her loving husband Stan at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Whatever name we chose for her, Momma, Mama, Lucy, Ethel, Grandma Grabey, Granny or G-Ma she will be missed by all.
