Cecilia Rico Obituary

Cecilia Velasco Rico, fondly known as “Lola Cecil”, passed away on April 14, 2022, at the age of 73 due to natural causes.

Cecil graduated from Manila Central University Philippines with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She worked as a nurse in Manila Central University Hospital, Lyceum Northwestern Hospital, and worked 17 years in Saudi Arabia and Libya. In 1999, she decided to retire and spend her time with her children.

Cecilia is survived by her children, Rhocelle Panghulan, Rechilda Rico-Lawhorn, Ria Cecilia Rico, Carlos Crisanto Jose Rico and John Paul Rodolf Rico and their respective spouses: Ariel Panghulan, Jeremy Lawhorn, Maria Kristina Rico and Katrina Rico. She also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren: Gabriel Lawhorn, Philipp Lawhorn, Alexandria Rico, Kassandra Rico, Ralph Caguioa, Zaldy Caguioa Jr., April Caguioa and her only sister, Andrea David. She is preceded by her husband, Rodolfo Aquino Rico and both her parents: Alfredo Salabatino Velasco and Dominga Milo Velasco.

Cecilia was a devoted and selfless mother, loving and dedicated grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and a friend to everyone. She enjoyed cooking, baking, travelling, listening to her telenovelas and enjoyed phone games and apps. She was a spiritual and God-fearing woman. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all who knew her.

Cecilia, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure… you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Rest in peace now, we love you!

A viewing is scheduled for April 20, 2022, at 5pm to 7pm and funeral rites at 7pm at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home located at 500 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301.

Cecilia’s viewing (12 noon) and Burial Mass (1 pm) at St. Patrick’s Church located at 2844 Village Dr. Fayetteville NC 28304 will be on Friday, April 22. 2022.
