Brenda Leigh Cipolla Whitmire, 59, passed away on June 8, 2025. Born on May 23, 1966, in Gardena, California, Brenda brought warmth and light into the world from the very beginning.
She was a proud graduate of Pine Forest High School, Class of 1984. Always driven to serve her community, Brenda went on to complete her Basic Law Enforcement Training in 2004. She began her law enforcement career with the Parkton Police Department, where she faithfully served as an officer, later rising to the role of Interim Police Chief and School Resource Officer (SRO) at Parkton Elementary School. In 2008, Brenda joined the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department as an SRO, serving the students and staff of both Parkton and Rennert Elementary Schools with unwavering dedication and compassion. In addition to her law enforcement work, she enjoyed her time working with the Queens of Kings Bingo in Fayetteville, NC, where she made many lasting friendships.
Brenda was known by all for her kind and generous spirit. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and an open heart. Her presence was a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Brenda is survived by her loving mother, Catherine (Cathy) Whittaker, and stepfather, Norman Gritten. She was preceded in death by her father, Guytano (Tom) Cipolla.
She leaves behind her three daughters who were the light of her life, Heather Whitmire Hancock (husband Josh), Ashley Whitmire, and Kristin Whitmire Piccione (husband Mikey). Brenda was a devoted grandmother, and her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Amelia Whitmire, Gaberiel Vines, Silas Piccione, Harry Piccione, Caleb Runge, and Emerie Richards. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Donna Gritten, Trish Cipolla, and Bobby Cipolla.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home at 4 pm with Reverend Hunt officiating.
Brenda’s life was a testament to love, service, and strength. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
