Billie Davis Obituary

“Billie” Jean Davis went home to Jesus on May 24, 2021 at age 77.

Billie was born to Bill and Reola Locklear on December 4, 1943 in a log cabin in Pembroke, North Carolina. As a child, she excelled in school, receiving awards in history and geography.  Billie was part of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and appreciated her Native American heritage.

Billie met her husband, William “Donald” Davis while attending school.  Donald boasted of having a crush on her from the 7th grade.  It broke his heart when he got out of the Navy, that she wasn’t available.  However, in 1979, Donald captured Billie’s heart and they were married on July 23rd.

In addition to being a loving spouse and mother, Billie was an excellent seamstress, she loved baking, woodworking, Quilt making, traveling, fishing, camping and singing.  Billie was a Royal Ambassador for the Royal Rangers and Missionettes Program, teaching Sunday School and bible programs for many years.  She attended Bible School at Eastern Bible Institute, obtaining certificates in promoting Sunday School and various Bible Study programs because of her love for the word of God.  In addition, she attended Fayetteville Technical School obtaining certificates in yeast breads, pastries and other baking specialties.  She, along with her 97-year mother co-led worship in their church at Battle for Christ Ministries.  Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Billie joins in heaven, her infant son, Norman Terrance “Terry” Starling, her father, Bill Locklear, brother, Carlen Locklear, sister, Joan Locklear Drake, brother-in-law, Jimmy Brewington, sisters-in-law, Betty Locklear and Edna Locklear.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Donald Davis, her mother, Reola Locklear, along with her sisters, Lisa Locklear Hunt (Gregory Hunt), Amy Locklear, Wanda Locklear Hunt, Betsy Cummings, Rose Marie Lambert (Johnny Michael Lambert), Cleta Brewington (Jimmy-deceased), Iris Yvonne Leggett, Monika Locklear Hayes, Tanya Locklear Yount, brothers, Wayne Locklear, Jerry Locklear (Mary Mullis), Bill Locklear Jr, Clayton Locklear (Brenda), Ricky Locklear (Diane), Clifford Locklear, her children, Eric Gene Starling (Susan Starling), Anthony Edward Starling (Sarah Derrick Starling) and Victor Burke Starling (Jen Starling), and her grandchildren, Kristina Brooke Starling, Brooks Kenneth Gardner (Amanda Gardner), William Zachary Starling, Candace Starling Faircloth (Joshua Faircloth), Tyler Burke Starling, Sarah Elizabeth Starling, Rebekah Starling, Victoria Starling and 4 great grandchildren, Wyatt Gardner, Alexander Gardner, William Gardner and her youngest great grandchild, Amelia Blair Faircloth.
