Betty Bernice Overall Lopes Edge Obituary

Betty Bernice Overall Lopes Edge of Fayetteville, North Carolina went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 11, 2020.

Betty was born September 27, 1933 in Montreal, Canada to Ernest Albert and Jessie Tracey Overall.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Jessie Overall, her first husband Conrad Charles Lopes, second husband Alex Eskel Edge, and five brothers Frank, Clayton, Melvin, Roy, and Ronnie Overall.

Betty enjoyed track and field, dancing, and ceramics.  She married Conrad Charles Lopes after high school graduation.  Conrad was drafted and served in the United States Army sending Betty on a new adventure moving to the States where she later became a U.S. Citizen.  Betty and Conrad lived in New Mexico, New Jersey, Germany, California, Hawaii, and North Carolina. They enjoyed traveling to new places and chasing Rainbows. Betty and Conrad were blessed with three children, Conrad, Deborah, and Marla.  Betty lost her husband, Conrad after 15 years of marriage to cancer when she was only 34 years of age in 1967. Betty worked as an office manager and bookkeeper at Par Gas in Fayetteville, N.C. until she married her second husband Alex Eskel Edge in 1974.  At this time, she was additionally blessed with two daughters Vivian and Gail.  Betty enjoyed going to Bluegrass festivals, riding the motorcycle, bowling, spending time at their beach home with friends, and fishing.  After a weekend of fishing, they would come home and invite the family over for a fish fry.  In 2015 after 44 years of marriage Eskel left Betty to be with his heavenly Father.  She remained in her home on Pleasant Loop until December 2019 when she made a new home with her son Conrad and his wife Karen.

Betty loved God and her church family.  She was an active member of Gardner's United Methodist Church on Rosehill Rd. since 1967.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother survived by her children Conrad Lopes and wife Karen, Deborah Lopes, Marla Hester and husband Jim, Vivian Ivers and husband Jim and Beverly Gail Vigna and husband Alfred, grandchildren Sylvia Thornton, Holly Bloodworth, Amanda Brown, Anthony Butler, Rebecca Butler, Luke Ivers, Jacob Ivers, Lydia Kehoe, Barbara Perreca, and Elizabeth Stupke, great grandchildren Aiden, Aubrey, and Isla Thornton, Nathaniel and Paisley Bloodworth, Priscilla Kehoe, Vincent, Michael, and Nicholas Perreca, and Scarlet and Alfred Stupke.

Betty touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

 

A private family service will be held. Friends, neighbors and extended family know that you will be there in our hearts and that she loved you all.
