Betty Ann (Holmes) Smith

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister, Betty Ann Holmes Smith, 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in her home, surrounded by family and friends.

Betty Ann was born on February 26, 1938, in Fayetteville, NC. She attended Fayetteville Senior High School. In 1955, Betty married the love of her life, Mr. J.C. Smith. Together, they were the proud parents of six children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Stacy Dewitt Holmes and Ethel Everette Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, John Crawford Smith; her oldest son, Christopher Wayne Smith; and her son-in-law, Tom Bozeman.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Pickett Griswold Smith; daughters, Kimberly Bozeman and Sherrie Bullock (Kenny); and sons, John Nickolas Smith (Theresa), Stacy Dewitt Smith (Colleen), and Brian Smith of the home. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Lee Holmes of Pensacola, Florida. In addition, she is survived by Mrs. Jennifer Keaton and her son, Tyler Starling, whom she considered a daughter and grandson.

Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Massey Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Evans officiating. Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.
