Barbara Jean (Gray) Cox

Barbara Jean Cox, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away at home on January 8, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzy and Lottie Gray; two brothers, John Gray and her twin, Dean Gray; sister, Ruth Glenn; grandson, Jessie Cain; and her son in law, William Wilson. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Raymond Cox of the home; daughters, Rebecca Wilson of Stedman and Deborah Cottrell (husband, Brad) of Eastover, NC; sons, Robert Smith of Eastover, NC, Donnie E. Jackson (wife, Victoria) of Eastover, NC, and Kenneth Jackson (wife, Tammy) of Pennsylvania; brother, Warren Gray (wife, Ginny) of Texas; 12 grandchildren: Keith, Jennifer, Ashley, Autumn,  Boo, Brittany, Heather, Jonathan, Shandi, Raven, Rachel and Kenny, Jr.; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Jean was the heart and soul of the family, always bringing everyone together with her laugh and delicious meals at countless cookouts. She cherished the joy of hosting family gatherings, where it was her love for cooking and creating memories for everyone.  With a heart full of love Jean always made sure her family was united. Jean always tried to help everyone and had a heart of Gold. She always saw the good in everybody and wanted everyone to get along. She loved Nascar racing, especially Dale Earnhardt. Jean’s hobbies were making ceramics, cooking, and she especially loved gardening. She was strong-willed and expressed her opinions. Jean will forever be in our hearts, and we will always carry her memory with us. 

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Macedonia Baptist Church. The visitation will be held from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Joe Hickson. Interment will take place immediately after the service.

Jean’s love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
