Arthur “David” Wilson, 78, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on April 6, 2026.
David was a devoted father, proud veteran, successful businessman, and a man known for his kindness, steady devotion, generosity, and unmistakable sense of humor. He lived a full life marked by service, hard work and a deep love for those around him.
He proudly served his county in the United States Army and was a Purple Heart recipient, a testament to his courage and sacrifice. Following his military service, David built a legacy in his community by starting a family and co-founding Chapman – Wilson Pools, Spas & Home Improvements Inc., with his partner Sandra – Chapman Wilson in 1988. A thriving business that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to quality. David was known for the care he showed his employees and his commitment to his work family.
Born and raised in Oxford, Mississippi, David was a passionate fan of Ole Miss Football. He loves fishing, boating, a good long walk on the beach or thru his neighborhood and just taking in the quiet rhythm of the woods in his rocking chair on his back porch while feeding his favorite squirrels. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but for his big heart, his infectious laughter, and the way he made others feel valued and welcomed.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Wilson Hamilton and husband David, son, Matthew Wilson and wife Katie and his close friend, partner, and mother of his children, Sandra Chapman – Wilson. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him, from trips on the coast of Wilmington to the North Carolina Mountains.
David’s life was a testament to perseverance, love and faith. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. The family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace, and they will carry his spirit with them always. David was deeply loved, and he will be dearly missed.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
