Anna Elizabeth (Jones) Hooker

Anna Elizabeth Jones Hooker, 91, of Hope Mills N. C., passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on January 31, 2023.

She was born August 8, 1931, the oldest of six children, to the late Henry Monroe and Mamie Phelps Jones of Lewisville, N.C. Upon graduating with honors from Lewisville High, she attended Bowman-Gray School of Nursing in Winston Salem, NC. While there, she met and later married an under-graduate WWII Veteran student at Wake Forest, named Clyde W. Hooker, and would share the next 54 years with him raising a family of five and later enjoying the adventures of traveling the country together.

Anna loved her children, family, friends, and the Lord. She will always be remembered for her loving, caring, compassionate and supportive demeanor, and her charitable willingness to give when others couldn't see the possible fruits if planted with love.

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clyde W. Hooker; brother, Thomas Jones and sister, Daisy Long of Lewisville, N. C. Left behind to cherish her memory are brothers, Henry Monroe, Jr., (Judy), Mike, ( Toni), and sister, Dorothy, all of Lewisville; and children, Keith, (Kaye), Barry, (Debbie),Alan, (Mary Ellen), Sherri Welborn, (Edgar), and Angela Faircloth, (Michael), along with numerous cousins, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the loving staff at Haymount Rehabilitation and Nursing for the love and support provided to our Mom during her brief but exciting stay.  Your care, humor and love will never be forgotten!

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Anna at her beloved Highland Baptist Church, 4456 Legion Road, Hope Mills N. C., on Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 am, with Pastor Danny Anderson officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials to Anna be sent to Highland Quilting Group, c/o Highland Baptist Church N, C,. 28348, or, to a Charity of your choice.
