Andrew "A.J." Johnson Albertson

Andrew Johnson "A.J." Albertson, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025. He was born on October 20, 1942, in Duplin County to the late John William and Blanche Albertson.

A.J. was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jane Creech Albertson, who has been waiting on him since November 10th, 2024; and his parents. He is survived by his sister, Doris Hatcher, and his brother, Sonny Boy Albertson. He leaves behind his loving children, Jeffrey J. Albertson and wife, Cindy, and Allison Walters and husband, Preston; his grandchildren, Amanda A. Lucas and husband, Chris, Lauren A. Spell, and Andrew D. Albertson and wife, Jessica; and his great-grandchildren, Talan B. Lucas, Kamryn D. Lucas, Brayden D. Bowden, Hunter W. Spell, Hensleigh J. Albertson, Saylor D. Albertson, and Jaxton J. Albertson.

A.J was raised in Chinquapin, NC, and moved to Fayetteville in 1972. That same year he joined the NC State Highway Patrol. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1993 and retired in 1998 after serving the people of Cumberland County for 27 years

A.J. loved his family deeply and treasured the time spent hunting, fishing, or relaxing at the beach. Known for his warm personality, he never met a stranger and always made time to connect with those around him. He shared his deep faith and gifted bass voice by singing with the New Hope Gospel Quartet. Even in retirement, he stayed active in his community, working with WKML as the Road Ranger, at the Crown Coliseum with security, and at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

A devoted servant, A.J. was a faithful member of Village Drive Baptist Church and Beaver Dam Baptist Church, always finding joy in serving others and sharing God’s love.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church from 12:30 to 1:45 pm.  A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., officiated by Pastor Josh Hughes, with burial at Fayetteville Memorial Park.
