Alva Lee (Akin) Monroe

Alva Lee Monroe (Lee) of Fayetteville, NC left this temporal world September 27th, 2022, to join all the saints where she is now without pain or sorrow, perfect in every way as she sits at the throne of our Lord God.

Lee was predeceased by her husband, James F. Monroe, a retired Army veteran and her son, Hal J. Monroe of Hickory.  Also preceding her are her parents, Homer L. and Mabel Alva Akin, of Roanoke Alabama. 

Lee is survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine M. Tola and her husband Pete; two grandsons, James and Will Crowder; and a step-granddaughter, Anna Lee Tola.

A dedicated military wife, loving mother, grandmother (Ganna), and aunt, Lee worked as a pharmacy technician over several decades ending her career at Cape Fear Hospital.  She was a member of good standing of Village Baptist Church and especially enjoyed her Sunday School class led by George Massengill.

Lee spoke often of how blessed she was with all the many friends she met throughout her life.  The family wishes to express their particular gratitude for the love and friendship of Ellen Barlow, Theresa and Larry Cornett, George S. and Susan Davis, Jr., her loving niece, Darlene and Chuck Thompson, Kurt and Linda Minne, and especially Ron Howard, her longtime neighbor who was always there when she needed him. 

Visitation will be from 12:45 to 1:45 with the funeral service following in the chapel at 2:00 on Saturday, October 8th at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville N.C.  Graveside services will immediately follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
