Mrs. Alice Bryant Shearer, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026.
Born on August 21, 1936, in Johnston County, North Carolina, Alice was the daughter of the late Neva and Alton Bryant. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris, Shirley, and Linda; her brothers, Johnny and Jimmy; and her beloved son, Ed.
Alice was a devoted and hardworking woman who spent many years serving her community through her employment at Treasure City, Walmart, and Roses. She was a faithful member of New Testament Baptist Church, where she cherished her church family and lived out her unwavering faith.
Among the many things she enjoyed, Alice had a special love for Atlanta Braves baseball, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. Whether cheering on her favorite team, preparing a delicious meal, or simply gathering with those she loved, her greatest happiness was found in the company of family. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great- grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Huffman (Mike) of Fayetteville; her sons, Kenneth Ashworth of Grays Creek and Robert Ashworth (Lisa) of Oak Island; her brother, Charles Bryant; and her sister, Betty Howell. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 14 great- great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A funeral service will be held at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10a.m, with Thomas Lee and Tom Counts officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home, starting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow the services at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 a.m.
Alice will be remembered for her strong work ethic, unwavering faith, generous heart, and deep love for her family. She touched countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on through the many generations of family and friends who were blessed to know her and will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
