Shirley Fay (Armstrong) Kinney

Mrs. Shirley Fay Kinney; cherished wife, beloved mother and Nana, daughter to the late James and Willie Belle Armstrong of Birmingham, Ala.; left this world for her heavenly home on November 15, 2018, surrounded by her family, after an extended valiant fight against stomach cancer.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 49 years, Walter Kinney; her children, Heath Kinney and wife, Lori and Misty Phillips and husband, Jacob; her grandchildren, Teresa Honstead, Cody Kinney, Raigan Myers and Athaliah Phillips; her great granddaughters, Haleigh and Katherine Honstead; one sister and two brothers.  Before this fight, as well as throughout this battle, Shirley was blessed with an immense support network of friends that we consider family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm Monday, November 19, 2018 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel . The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

As a reflection of the loving care Shirley received, the family has created a trust in her honor for donations in lieu of flowers to the Friends of the Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center, Fayetteville, NC.  Please make donations in the name of Shirley F. Kinney, direct them specifically to the Friends of the Cancer Center so that her memory might live on while supporting other warriors during their fight.
