Mrs. Patti Miller Hooker, 60, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
She was born and raised in Statesville, NC and was a 1979 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. While at UNC she met the love of her life, Art. They were married and moved to Fayetteville in 1980.
Patti was a social worker with DSS after moving to Fayetteville and then became an educator in the early 1980's. She taught 4th-6th grades and later became an AIG teacher. Patti was named NC AIG Teacher of the year in 2005-06. She retired in the spring of 2017 after touching the lives of many children through her years in the school system.
Patti loved to travel, she loved the beach, her dogs and cats; and most of all her family. Her sons meant the world to her and would say, it didn't matter what was going on, Mom could always make it better.
She was preceded in death by a son, Elliott Gordon Hooker; her parents, Walter and Hannah Miller; and her brother, Brent Miller.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Arthur C. Hooker of the home; a son, A. Charles Hooker, Jr. of Charlotte; a sister, Terri Sipes and husband, Ronnie of Statesville; a nephew, Todd Mason of Cornelius; and many extended family and friends.
The family would like give a special thanks to Highland House and Community Hospice for the excellent care provided during Patti's final days.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mike Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
