Norma Mae Atkinson Ellis

Norma Atkinson Ellis, 97, passed away on September 18, 2019.  She was the daughter of Edwin Booth Atkinson and Lizzie Johnson.  Both preceded her death.

She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, having sung in the choir since a teenager and taught Sunday school for many years.  She loved life and people, always practicing her belief that “a merry heart doth good like medicine”.

She retired from Sears and was an active member of the Sears Retiree Club.  She served as Vice President several times of the Eastover Senior Club, the AIA Senior Club of her church, and the Sears Retiree Club.  She loved music and poetry, which she wrote for many people.

Norma is survived by her son, Jack Calvin Ellis (Helen) of Richmond Hill, GA; six grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Matthew Irving (Jack) Ellis; and her granddaughter, Janet Norris.

A Funeral Service will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral home at 11 AM Monday, September 23, with a visitation happening 9:45-10:45 AM prior to service.
