Nelson Harry Emmons, 80, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at his home in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Nelson was born June 25, 1938 to Nelson and Catherine (Emmons) in Baltimore, Maryland, the second child of three children.
Nelson joined the military and was stationed in Seoul Korea at the beginning of his career where he met his beautiful bride and wife, Yong Cha (Gail) and they were later married in Seoul Korea before coming back to the United States. Nelson later served in the U.S. military in Vietnam as a field medic. He proudly served four tours in Vietnam where he accumulated several medals for his bravery and efforts in protecting his country and fellow soldiers
In 1959, Nelson began his family with his first-born, Nelson Harry Jr. (Emmons). Apart from his responsibilities with the military, Nelson enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to go fishing, hiking and camping whenever he had the time and made sure his family was a part of all these extracurricular activities, surrounding his family with love and respect. He also spent most of his later years woodworking and crafting beautiful pieces of art.
Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Yong Cha (Gail), his eldest son, Nelson Harry Jr. and his beautiful granddaughter, Alyssa Dawn (Emmons). He is survived by his sons, William, Robert and Benjamin. Also, a brother, William Gary, of Pennsylvania and a sister, Geraldine Kerger, of Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM with Reverend Archie Barringer officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
