Mildred L. DeGeest, 83, of Fayetteville passed to Glory on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in her home.

Mildred was born and raised in White Oak, NC where she graduated from White Oak High School in 1953 as class valedictorian.  She married Gordon DeGeest of Sacred Heart, MN who was stationed at Fort Bragg in the US Army.  As Gordon pursued an Army career he and Mildred took their family to many different parts of the world with tours in Japan, England and Iran.

Mildred settled in Enterprise, AL and then in Tampa, FL after her career as a military wife.  She led a full life with a career as a purchasing agent for a major bank and was active in both her church and her community.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Martha Dew of White Oak, brothers Paul, John and Milton Dew.

Mildred is survived by her sons Ronald DeGeest of Rocky Mount, VA, Larry DeGeest and wife Terri of Fayetteville, NC, Grandchildren Stephanie Thomas of Waxhaw, NC, Richard DeGeest of Buffalo, NY, Mason Wynn of Greenville, NC and Gabriel Hipps of Fayetteville, NC.  Also surviving Mildred are great grandchildren Jackson Thomas and Ryder DeGeest.

Mildred moved home to North Carolina in 2009 and attended Arran Lake Baptist church.  She took great pride in her independence and lived on her own until her death.  She was active in her church and her community.  She loved the Lord and never passed the opportunity to bring someone closer to Christ.  She had a passion for gardening and feeding wild birds which she loved to watch for hours.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Atkinson officiating.

Mildred will be sorely missed by all that knew her especially her family.
