Michael J. Edwards, Sr.

Michael Johnation Edwards was born on September 8, 1946 to Carl B. Edwards II and Beatrice Hargraves Edwards in Durham, NC. He passed from this life on August 30, 2018 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

Michael was raised in Chapel Hill, NC and was a die hard Carolina Tar Heel fan! He served in the Army for over 20 years. During his service, he met and married Walburga (Leila) Brosig and had two children Michael Jr. and Jovana.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jennifer Edwards; two brothers, Carlee D. Edwards and Carl B. Edwards, III; and one niece, Andranita "Angie".

He is survived by his wife, Walburga "Leila" Edwards; one son, Michael J. Edwards, Jr.; one daughter, Jovana Edwards; two granddaughters, Lauryn and Melana; one brother, Gaylan S. Edwards; and six sisters, Etta J. Edwards, Kimberly C. Albright, Keith M. Edwards, Jennette L. Farrington (Wade), Pier M. Edwards, and Cheryl D. Edwards. In addition, he also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, as well as church family and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 3, 2018 from 6 pm to 6:30 pm at Cliffdale Christian Center with a memorial service immediately following at 6:30 pm. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 10 am Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
