John Steven Calhoun, 66 of Fayetteville passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
He was born on February 15, 1952 to Vila and Leon Calhoun.
John is survived by his three sons. Kristopher, Jeremy and Anthony; a daughter, Alexandra; one sister, Frances Cole of Statesville; and six grandchildren, Austin, Parker, Katie, Ella, Kensley and one due February.
He graduated Pharmacy school from the University of North Carolina in 1975. After working some time in the retail pharmacy setting, he had a desire to create a business that cared for people and delivered great service. On that dream he founded Cape Fear Discount Drugs. John originated the idea to fill all prescriptions in 15 minutes and treat everyone like family. To this day, the business is closed every Sunday to honor God and allow all the employees to have family time. The family business still holds to the values it was founded on. John was a pharmacist in Fayetteville for over 40 years and he loved the community.
John loved spending time with family either fishing or watching the Tarheels play.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
