Jeanette “Jan” Lucille Waters of Fayetteville died on Saturday, December 29, 2018.
Jan was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the oldest of four daughters of Leroy Maloy and Essie Mae Calhoun Maloy.
She worked for Belk, Inc., for 33 years. Before her career at Belk, Inc., she managed a Naturalizer shoe store for five years in the early 1980s. She was an avid reader and traveled extensively before and while working in retail and retail management.
Jan is survived by a daughter, Debra Taft of Fayetteville; a son, Edwin J. Waters Jr. and daughter-in-law, Delores Waters of Fayetteville; two granddaughters, Kimberly Taft, of Raleigh and Savannah Waters, of Wilmington; and one grandson, Edwin J. Waters III, of Wilmington.
She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Maloy Bachorski, of St. Augustine, Fla. and Shirley Reed, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a niece, Belinda Noda, of St. Augustine, Fla.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister, Marie.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home followed by a memorial service in the chapel at the funeral home.
