James Douglas Howard, loving son, brother, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at his residence.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving mother, Mary Helen Howard of Fayetteville; daughter, Olivia and husband Zachary Moody; grandson Liam Moody, all of Fayetteville; son, Jason Howard and grandson Christian Howard of Clayton; step-son James Daryl and wife Candie Terry, granddaughters Madelyn, Abagail, and Maggie Terry of Hope Mills; sister, Dianne and husband Roger Schumacher of Pinehurst.
Even though James departed this life early we are at peace knowing he is rejoicing with his loved ones, father, Rev. Dr. Alton Howard; sister Linda Norris and granddaughter Amelia Moody.
James was a member of the Catalpa Bible Way Church and graduated from Southview High School in 1977, following high school he was an Assistant Manager for Tide Water Transit Company at River terminal of Fayetteville. Then he spent many years working for the Fayetteville Observer running a paper route. James was an avid race fan and enjoyed many weekends along side friends at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway. James was most known for his witty and charming demeanor, along with the friendly personality he had.
A funeral service will be held at Rogers and Breece Chapel on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gary Horne officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
