Mr. Edward Graham Melvin, Jr., 72, of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
Mr. Melvin received the Silver Spoon Award from Methodist College that is given to a person who, though not born with the proverbial spoon in his mouth, has originated and built a successful business recognized for its uniqueness in planning, production, or some other aspect of its operation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Graham Melvin and Gracie Lee Melvin; and a step-son, Herbert Hitchcock.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Julie C. Melvin of the home; a daughter, Misha Rose Melvin of Red Springs; two sons, Patrick Graham Melvin of Fayetteville and Edward Graham Melvin, III of Red Springs; a step-daughter, Laura Lee Hitchcock of Rome, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Jessie Hitchcock; two sisters, Brenda King of Southport and Barbara Dunham (Richard) of White Oak; a brother, Donald Lee Melvin of Southport; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 pm Thursday, October 25, 2018 in Village Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Martin and Rev. Matthew Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 pm to 2:45 pm.at the church.
