Edward Michael Andrews

Edward "Michael" Andrews, 61, of Fayetteville, N.C.,  passed unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, in the comfort of his home.  

Born May 22, 1956, in Lumberton, N.C., to Edward and Maureen Andrews, he grew up an Army brat ... which is why he joined the NAVY! There, he spent 23 glorious (often frustrating) years and retired a Chief Petty Officer.

No longer content to carry out the nonsensical whims of others, he decided to drop anchor at Sandhills Community College. There, he worked his way from part-time substitute teacher to basic skills coordinator of the Adult Continuing Education Program, which he loved almost as much as his naval career. 

In his leisure time, he enjoyed grilling, fixing the freaking lawn mower and basic home repairs (although not encouraged to). He was a connoisseur of pies and a Russian dash-cam video enthusiast. 

Michael was a wonderful husband and a great father. He was a devoted son and a beloved brother. For those lucky enough to have known him, he was a loyal friend.

He is survived by his wife, Silvia M. Andrews, with whom he would have celebrated 39 years of marriage next month. His legacy is secured through his two children: Barbara L. Andrews and M. Ryan Andrews.  He is also mourned by his mother, his sisters, Lynn Mull and Ruth Anne Andrews, and his brother, David Andrews, as well as a myriad of other relatives.  He will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew him.

The Andrews family would like for you to join us in celebrating the life and memory of Mike Andrews at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Interment services will take place at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
