Mr. Curtis Ray Strickland, 71, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.
Curtis was born in Fayetteville to Ila Elizabeth Horne and William Moody Strickland on January 1, 1948. He was active in the Boy Scouts, almost making Eagle Scout status, attended Fayetteville Senior High School and on December 13, 1968 he married the love of his life, Jeanette Frances Pilon. For the next 42 years Curtis worked as a business technician for Century Link. He proudly served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Curtis’ passion was fishing and he was an active member of American Team Bass Club. After retiring he enjoyed volunteering with the local Meals on Wheels Program.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Ila and William Moody Strickland; four brothers, Donald, Daryl, Harold, and John Strickland and his sister, Margaret Strickland Robinson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; daughter, Angela (Gary Seamans), and three grandchildren, Ila, Ethan, and Owen Seamans.
