Charles Anthony Alexander Obituary

Charles Anthony Alexander, 69, of 302 Rock Hill Road, Fayetteville, NC departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 4:20 AM in Cape Fear Valley Hospital.

Anthony was born on March 17, 1950 in Cumberland County to the late Glenn Carter and Geneva Carter Alexander. He w as married for 50 years as of May 16, 2019 to Naydene Alexander. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the early years of his life. He worked at Overnite Transportation for 15 years as a dock man and 5 years as a driver before going to work with the City of Fayetteville for 17 years where he was a heavy equipment operator and retired disabled. That didn’t damper his spirit, as he found solace in his barn, hanging out for hours. As his health declined and after several major surgeries, he would tell you, me,  our family, “I will not give up”. Even though his body was telling him it was tired, his spirit was ready to go home.

He worked with the RA’s for many years at Cape Fear Baptist Church and truly enjoyed it. He was also a teacher, and assistant teacher. He enjoyed taking the children on hayrides during church festivities. He taught them how to fish and tie knots when they would go camping. He sang in the choir at Cumberland Union Baptist Church. But nothing was more satisfying than working with children. He loved the Lord our Savior very much and was a member of the Cape Fear Baptist Church.

Charles Anthony Alexander is survived by his wife, Naydene Alexander; daughter, Felicia Kinlaw and husband, Tom; mother, Geneva Alexander; sister, Glenda Jones and husband, Ted, all of Fayetteville; stepfather, Bobby Alexander of Alaska; four granddaughters, Taylor Frank and husband, Jack, Haley Lilly and husband Steven, Layton and Raegan Kinlaw of the home; two great grandchildren, Eloise and Genevieve Frank, all of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
