Billy Dean Barrett went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2018. Born August 9, 1936 in Tazewell County, Virginia, the son of a coal miner. He was raised in the mountains of South Western, Virginia, where he enjoyed his childhood and youth.
As a young man, Billy was drafted into the U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg. When his military career was complete, he found Fayetteville to be his home and resided in the area for the remainder of his life. Billy was a very outgoing and social person who found his gift of gab to be the best way to support his family, making a life time career as a salesman in the printing equipment field.
Billy enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and never met a stranger. Billy was quick to tell a joke or story and could fill a room with laughter. Making others laugh and smile was truly a gift that Billy enjoyed sharing with others.
Billy is survived by his wife of the home, Zita Yates Barrett; a daughter, Zita Lyn McDaniel and husband, Joe; a son, Robert Sherdan Barrett; and two grandsons, Noah McDaniel and Mark McDaniel all of Fayetteville, NC; a granddaughter, Kayla Barrett, of Broadway, NC; a sister, Linda Hodock Byrd and husband, Larry of Jewel Ridge, Virginia; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, George Mark and Ruth Estelle Barrett; three brothers, Jackie, Charles and Eddie Barrett; and one sister, Leola Barrett.
