Alton "Al" Lanier, Jr. Obituary

Alton "Al" Ray Lanier, Jr., 47, entered into eternity Wednesday, June 20, 2018.  Al was born at McDonald Army Hospital, Ft. Eustis, Virginia.  He graduated from Westover High School and UNC Pembroke receiving a Bachelor degree.

He served his country proudly as a Captain (Infantry) in the US Army National Guard for 15 years.  He earned his Ranger tab and was an Airborne Paratrooper.

He was self-employed and owned Al Lanier's Pressure Washing for 26 years. 

Al was a member of the Phoenix Lodge #8 in Fayetteville.

He enjoyed the outdoors, loved to hunt and fish.  He was also passionate about bowling and scuba diving; and an avid Alabama football fan- "ROLL TIDE ROLL!"

Al was loved by all who knew him, and would give you his last dime and the shirt off his back.  

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lagina B. Lanier.

Left to cherish his memory is his parents, Ret. CW-5 Alton and Ruth Lanier; his son, Alton Ray Lanier, III; a nephew,Chuck Lanier and wife, Angie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as, his devoted dog, Katana.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glenn Hall officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Care Center c/o Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, PO Box 87526, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
