Retired Col. Ronald Calvert Obituary

Retired Col. Ronald Martin Calvert, 75, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.  Ron was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on October 15, 1947, to the late Houston Clayton Calvert and Rurie Myrlene Evans.

Ron graduated from Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, and joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter.  He was commissioned a Lieutenant of Infantry from the Officers Candidate School in 1967.  He continued to serve in the Army for 31 years and was a graduate of the Special Forces Officer Course, the Army Command and General Staff College and Army War College. 

Ron touched the hearts of many over the years and he was equally moved by each of the friendships he developed throughout his life and career.  He is survived by his wife, Janice; his daughter, Stacey; his sons, Ronald and Michael; his granddaughters, Meghann and Gigi; siblings, Judy and Mike; and the many dear friends that made up his extended family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4th, from 1-2 PM, Family and Friends remarks will be at 2 PM with Military Honors following at 2:30 PM. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, 500 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC.  Immediately following services there will be a celebration of his life and friends at Charlie Mike’s Pub at 195 Starpoint Dr. in Fayetteville.
