Michael Lynn Bates

Michael Lynn Bates, 51, of Fayetteville passed away on September 28, 2022.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Bates, Sr.; mother, Vickie Bates; and brother, Thomas Bates, Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, Ricky Bates (Donna); sister, Sherry Bates Fulton; six nieces, one nephew, five great nieces and his nine great nephews.

As a child, Michael participated in the Special Olympics for several years earning 20+ medals. As an adult, he enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach.

Michael loved everyone and saw the best in us all. This world would be a much better place if we live and love as Michael did.

The family would like to send a special thank you to “Tank”, Alfred Sessoms, for taking such good care of Michael for many years. He was so much more than a caregiver; he was a dear friend to Michael.

A visitation will be held at 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls, NC with Pastor Tim Grider officiating.
