Larry (Denny) Dennis Birkla

Larry Dennis (Denny) Birkla, 71, passed away on September 26, 2022, at UNC Health Southeastern Hospital with loved ones. Larry was born in Riddle, Indiana in Crawford County on October 8, 1950, to the late Albert and Margaret Birkla.

Larry is preceded in death by his 12 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Melviny Birkla; daughter, Sherri Dobra and husband, Larry Dobra and their children, Cadence, Brandon, and Abigayle; daughter, Brittany Goins and husband, Michael Goins, II. And their children, Michael, III., Maddux, Myla, and many other relatives, friends, and co-workers.

Larry touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed. He served in the US Army as an aircraft mechanic, a two-time purple heart recipient, and the US Federal Post Office for 44 years.

A Graveside Service will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 12 PM with Reverend Marty Woods officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Heart Association in Larry’s name.
