Steven Michael Long

Mr. Steven Michael Long, 68, of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017.  He was loved, cherished, honored, and will be missed by many.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force, retired from civil service and member of the Mason Lebanon Lodge 391.

Mike graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from Worth College.  He was an avid sportsman, golf, hunting, fishing, tennis, football and softball were his passions.  He was a member of Bragg Bass Busters and B.A.S.S. Pro Fisherman.  Mike "The Commish" helped organize the Ducks/Alcain Memorial Golf Tournament for several years.

He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and brother.  He was a great friend to many.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Deborah Marlow Long of the home; son, Mike "Mitch" Long, Jr. and wife, Sara of Fayetteville; two brothers, Lynn Long and wife, Darlene of Centralia, Mo. and Danny Long and wife, Junko of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a sister, Elaine Swinson of Winston Salem; two grandchildren, Christopher Long and Victoria Long; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors and masonic rites will be held at 5 pm Monday, June 12, 2017 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home with Rev. Archie Barringer officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Triangle Golf Foundation dba The First Tee of the Triangle 8800 Westgate Park Drive, Suite 104 Raleigh, NC 27617.
