Ruth Emily (Berzinski) Manthey

Ruth Emily Manthey, 86, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away June 27, 2015 in Mint Hill under hospice care.

Mrs. Manthey was born on April 4,1929 in Galesville, WI to the late John Berzinski and Emma Kulas Berzinski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, retired SFG Sgt. Major John H. Manthey, whom she was married to for over 57 years. Her beloved son, John David Manthey of 15 years; brothers, Edward, Rudolph, Joseph, John, and Henry Berzinski; and sisters Isabelle Owens and Grace Kouba.

Mrs. Manthey loved being surrounded by family and friends, hosting gatherings, learning new recipes, sewing, crafting and traveling. She will be fondly remembered for her many talents, her smile and sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Smith and husband, Walter "Smitty" of Charlotte; brother,  Roman Berzinski of Reno, NV; sister,  Beverly Veto of Fort  Atkinson, WI; godson, Dale Veto of Marshall, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
