Robert Bruce Porter

Robert “Bob” Bruce Porter of Hope Mills, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord on January 16, 2018. Robert was born in Phoenix, AZ to Edward and Doris Porter on September 29, 1953. He graduated from West Phoenix High School in 1971 and joined the US Army on July 31, 1973 where he served as a Military Policeman until he retired on November 5, 1982. He married his wife, Barbara “Gail” (Pruitt) Porter, on September 28, 1978. Bob was a jokester throughout his life always cracking jokes wherever he was. He loved his family and was generous to all of them.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Hope Mills, three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Stephen and Nicole Porter of Hope Mills, David and Donna Porter of Fayetteville, Christopher Porter of Fayetteville, a sister, Bettysue Lammers of Phoenix, AZ, a twin brother, William “Billy” Porter of Sun City, AZ, 10 grandchildren, 3 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his father and mother, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Azel and Betty Pruitt, a granddaughter, Angel Porter, a grandson, Donald Porter, and his brother James Porter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Rogers and Breece Chapel in Fayetteville. The family will have a visitation on Friday, January 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. It was Bob’s wish to be cremated and his ashes will be interned with full military honors at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Fayetteville on Monday, January 22 at 2 pm.
